Sr. Purchase Engineer

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, and reliability.

• Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to ensure cost-effective purchasing.

• Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and follow up to ensure on-time delivery.

• Analyze purchase requisitions and review specifications for accuracy and completeness.

• Coordinate with engineering, production, and quality teams for material requirements and specifications.

• Monitor inventory levels and maintain optimal stock levels without overstocking.

• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships and manage vendor performance.

• Conduct market research and stay updated with industry trends and pricing.

• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.

• Support new product development (NPD) teams by sourcing suitable components and materials.

• Generate procurement reports and analyze key metrics for continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

• 5+ years of experience in a procurement/purchasing role, preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

• Strong negotiation and communication skills.

• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite.

• Knowledge of supply chain management, inventory control, and vendor development.

• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.

• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
